CAMERA

Do you have a DSLR and want to learn how to utilize the video functions better? Are you a seasoned director or producer who wants to improve your "camera speak" with the camera department? Do you want to learn how to record professional sounding audio and publish your own videos? Or do you just want to try shooting on a RED camera in one of the most beautiful settings in the world?

There are no dumb questions here. In this workshop we teach all the things about cameras that we wished we had learned sooner :)

  • Camera orientation & basic camera handling

  • Basic recording settings: frame rate, shutter speed, shutter angle, ISO, white balance

  • Lens choice: how lenses can achieve different looks

  • Hands on orientation to several common camera types including DSLRs, and RED cameras

  • How to achieve a certain "look & feel" with your camera and lens choices

  • Lighting "dos & don'ts"

  • Understanding filters and why/when to use them

  • Basic audio set up when recording with microphones in-camera

  • More hands on play time with our range of cameras

  • ** If you have your own camera and want to learn how to use it more effectively, please bring it!

EDITING

Editing is often the point where many beautiful films get abandoned -- but it doesn't have to be that way! It can be the most fun part of the entire filmmaking process. We want to save you some time and hassle to make it fun and rewarding from the onset by learning a handful of key skills to allow you to take raw footage and make it into a cohesive edit.

Got a project you want to edit or you're in the middle of editing? Bring it! If you don't, don't sweat it - you’ll shoot plenty of footage in paradise :)

  • File organization and importing data into Premiere Pro

  • Basic editing workflow

  • Basic editing techniques, keyboard shortcuts, and time-saving tricks

  • Quick colour correction

  • Export settings and using Adobe Media Encoder to improve your workflow
